A Note to My Youngest on His Last Day of Preschool

Tonight you asked how many sleeps you had until Kindergarten. Telling you it was almost 100 would have been so overwhelming especially since you can't count that high yet.

But in a year from now?

You'll be counting the stars. You'll be reading. You'll know what to do during a fire drill.

Once you start Kindergarten, you'll probably be broken of the verbal habits we've let slide because you're our youngest and damn if they aren't cute.

No more will you tell me about how you "runned" on the playground. Next baseball season you won't ask me if we can go to the "'session" stand. And I'm guessing that your favorite toys will cease to be described as "mines."

I mean you've already left "sanks" (thanks) and "pickels" (testicles) behind.

Guess I'll just have to savor every last one of my 100 opportunities to get you into your "jamas" before school starts up again in the fall.

Ugh...watching them grow up is a heart wrenching joy, isn't it?

Hope he has a great last day!

I bawled the day my youngest STARTED playschool, let alone when he left!

Aw, so sweet. But tell me there's more sweetness to come, as they grow, right? Right? They're not teenagers overnight?

Sigh. These boys.

Awwwww....that was sweet. It's hard to move on from those ages.

Such sweet things to make note of. They get too big too fast.

aw, so sweet. I cried when my son "graduated" from preschool (he's in first grade now). Never thought in a million years I would CRY at watching 5 year olds get diplomas, but I did!

We're just finishing kindergarten...and there are still some things I don't want to let go.
I know we should...but you're right they're just too damn cute. And it's hard not to want your "babies" to stay "babies" for as long as they possibly can.

Aww...I am going to be a wreck when my little Deal goes to kindergarten. I was a crying fool when I took Bird in September, and now here he is about to be a first grader! This is why I drink wine.

Makes me kind of sad reading your post - my middle baby is going to kindy next year and his last day of preschool is tomorrow! I'm going to miss when he stops insisting "I amen't" (don't even know how to spell that made up contraction, lol) and starts saying I am not!

Yesterday was my girl's preschool graduation. Oh, this makes me so sad! And she's not even my youngest. I keep telling them to stop growing, but they won't listen!
