My Joys Are Simple, But They're Real
When I worked in retail--back when people used paper money--my favorite change to give was $.41.
One of each coin. So satisfying!

I love that you noticed this. I thought I was the only one who got excited about such dorky things.
You figured that out all on your own, didn't ya...
BAHAAAAAAA! Hope all is well down there! xoxo
Love the simple things!
A keen observer, you are.
Thanks for the early morning laugh, I needed it!
I never thought of that, it goes to show that some people are more in tune to then others.
One thing out of each little tray.
I liked it when things rang up $6.66 and the customer would flip out.
I was always the person who scrounged around for the four pennies....
I love that you filed that under "I'm a dork." Ahahahahaha.
So, you probably know how to add and subtract, too! No longer a requirement for retail, I've noticed (whenever a register breaks, they say "come back later" -- ha!).
I get excited when my purchase comes to the exact doollar, no change. $26 - even. $42. Love it.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes things like that! :)
I'm impressed that you found anything at all satisfying about working in retail. You are my hero.
I love the little things in life!
I could use some simple pleasures right now...as EVERYONE and EVERYTHING at the Mayhem is pissing me off! :)
Not only was it one of each, you could get it out quick!
Some days I miss retail..other times I think I'm nuts for working in it as long as I did.
Me too! $16 was fun too. $16.41 is really the best of all.
Damn you're good.
All those years I worked in retail and I never noticed that.
Guess I was too busy staring out into the mall looking for cute boys...
How do you even remember such a thing?
That is rather cute. My wife has little quirks like that. She doesn't like separating paper clips because she thinks they'd be sad and lonely apart.
OK, that's a bit different. But your post reminded me of that.
Back when I worked retail, I hated giving any change.
It was a reminder that I was working...and I can't have that, now can I?
:)
Found ya by way of mybloglog...hopes ya don'ts minds!
Is it weird that I totally love this post? As in I-would-marry-it-if-I-could love.
I love this - I didn't realize it, but I do love this. And I'm glad you found me - I stupidly didn't think to have cards for BlogHer...next year. (=
I remember people freaking out over $6.66 too.
At one tour operator I had to deal with a woman who was so upset that 13666 was her reservation number, that she insisted on canceling, because it was a sign that her plane would crash, or some other horrible catastrophe would befall her.
Yeah lady. Like losing your deposit.
:)
You crack me up and I can TOTALLY relate to the love of 41 cents in change. Makes complete sense to me!
